Student Loan Defaults Remain at Historically Low Rates
Secretary Spellings announced that the fiscal year 2004 national student loan cohort default rate was 5.1 percent, a small increase from last year's record-low rate of 4.5 percent and 77 percent lower than the all-time high of 22.4 percent set 14 years ago.
