SMS truancy alert expanded to 400 WA schools
The Western Australian Government is set to roll out a program that uses text messages to tackle truancy rates in public schools. The SMS system already operates in 46 schools but, from next year, will be used in 400 schools around Western Australia. Teachers will be able to send parents information via text message about their children's attendance and progress as well as important school events. ABC Perth, 2 October 2007.
